Culliper Support

Contact

Email support@culliper.app. Replies usually within two working days (New Zealand time). Please include your macOS version, the Culliper version (Culliper → About Culliper) and, if something went wrong, the text of the message you saw: every error in Culliper can be selected and copied. Help → Send Feedback… starts this email in your mail app with both versions and Culliper’s usage summary filled in. The summary is counts only, and you can edit or delete it before sending.

Requirements

macOS 15 or later on a Mac with Apple silicon. Culliper works on folders of RAW, JPEG and HEIF photographs. Copy a memory card to your Mac first and open that folder; Apple Photos libraries are not supported.

Getting started

  1. Open Culliper and click Choose Folder…, or drop a shoot folder on the window.
  2. The Import folder step shows what Culliper found. Tick Include subfolders for a folder of folders, untick any subfolders you want to leave out, and pick its Purpose: Best overall for the strongest photos across the whole folder, or Memories so every subfolder keeps its own best (see below). Choose its Photo Profile, then click Import.
  3. Analysis runs in the background. You can start reviewing straight away; suggested stars appear as groups finish.
  4. Review with the keyboard: ⌘1 Grid, ⌘2 Photo, ⌘3 Compare, Space switches Grid and Photo; 0–5 rate, L or P keep, X reject, U restore; R, A and K send a photo to Review, Picks-Alternates or Keep in place; arrows move, [ and ] step through similar shots, Z toggles Fit and 100%, G renders the full RAW, ⌘I opens Photo Details, ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z undo and redo.
  5. When you are happy, choose Session → Review Organisation… (⇧⌘P). Check the plan — every path and count is listed — then click Move N files. Nothing moves before that click.

Stacks and the best of a group

Similar shots and bursts stack into one tile in the grid, and the best of the group carries the suggested stars. If you prefer another frame, choose Make best of group (right-click it, or in Photo Details); ⌘Z undoes that too.

Photo Profiles and Memories

A Photo Profile decides how strict suggested stars are. Everyday is forgiving, for snapshots and family photos, and is the quickest to analyse. Enthusiast (the default) balances technical limits with an even aesthetic mix. Portfolio is strict and ranks mostly with Advanced aesthetics. Choose a folder’s profile when you import it, change it later in Session → Session Details…, and set the profile the Import step starts on in Settings → Photo Profiles, where you can also duplicate a profile to make your own.

Advanced aesthetics is a photo-aesthetics model that ships with Culliper and runs on your Mac. It is experimental: it has not yet been shown to pick keepers better than Standard (Apple’s own score), so Everyday leaves it out.

Memories suits a trip or a year of family photos in subfolders: each subfolder gets its own share of 5 and 4 stars, so every place keeps its best shots, and only very blurry photos are left out. In the sidebar each star row opens to its subfolders, for example “5-star › Ireland”.

Where do my files go?

Into plain folders inside the shoot folder: Picks, Picks-Alternates, Review and Outtakes (you can rename them). Files are moved, never copied, deleted or renamed. RAW+JPEG pairs and XMP sidecars move together. A file that already exists at the destination is skipped and reported, never overwritten.

I want them back

Use Revert last organisation to undo the most recent move set, or Return photos to main folder to put everything back. Both work after the trial ends and without a purchase.
